2017 Ford Edge

A software error causes the rearview camera to display a blank, distorted, glitching, flickering, or frozen image when the vehicle is in reverse. This is the most commonly recalled issue on the 2022 Edge, with Ford issuing multiple software fixes across different build dates.

Ford issued recalls for 2021-2024 Edge vehicles to update the rearview camera software. The fix is available as a dealer repair or an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Contact your dealer to verify your VIN.

2022 Edge ST models with the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 may develop an upper engine thump or knock noise originating from the left cylinder head. The noise is most apparent at idle or low RPMs and may worsen as the engine warms up.

Ford issued a TSB addressing the upper engine knock noise on vehicles with the 2.7L or 3.0L engine. The repair may involve replacing the left-side exhaust camshaft or cam phaser. The issue should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

Drivetrain complaints are among the most common for the 2022 Edge. The 8-speed automatic transmission can shift harshly, hesitate during gear changes, and exhibit a shudder during light acceleration. Some owners report the transmission slipping under hard acceleration.

Have the dealer perform a transmission fluid flush with the specified Mercon ULV fluid and reprogram the transmission control module with the latest calibration. If the torque converter is shuddering, it may need replacement.

The power driver seat adjustment switch may become inoperative, preventing seat position, recline, or lumbar adjustments. The issue is typically caused by a spread terminal in the seat switch electrical connector rather than a failed motor.

Ford issued a TSB to inspect and repair the seat switch connector terminal. The dealer will reform or replace the spread terminal in the wiring connector. If the switch assembly itself has failed, the entire switch module needs replacement.

Owners report squealing, grinding, or groaning brake noise during normal braking. The noise may be present in both forward and reverse directions and is particularly noticeable in cold or damp conditions.

Ford issued a TSB directing dealers to perform brake pinpoint tests per the Workshop Manual. Common fixes include replacing brake pads with an updated formulation, machining rotors, and applying brake caliper slide pin lubricant. Inspect for stuck caliper slide pins.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The rear brake jounce hose may rupture and leak brake fluid.

A brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the brake jounce hoses and adjust brake jounce hoses with no damage present, free of charge. Interim owner letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed September 8, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated April 2026. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Edge vehicles equipped with the optional Panoramic Vista Roof. These vehicles may have an improperly welded windshield header, reducing the vehicle's lateral structural integrity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

If the vehicle has reduced lateral structural integrity, the occupants are at an increased risk of injury in the event of a side-impact crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
