Vehicle Specs & Maintenance Data
The 2019 Kia Stinger maintenance specs on this page cover the key fluids, torque values, and wear items you need for routine service. Use these numbers as a quick reference when performing oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, and other scheduled maintenance on your Kia Stinger.
For oil changes, the 2019 Kia Stinger takes 5W-30 Full Synthetic motor oil with a capacity of 4.8 quarts. Brake fluid type is DOT 3, the recommended coolant is Phosphate-based Green/Blue, and transmission fluid is SP-IV-M (ATF). Always use the manufacturer-recommended fluids to maintain warranty coverage and engine longevity.
When mounting wheels on the Kia Stinger, torque the lug nuts to 79-94 ft-lbs using a calibrated torque wrench. Over- or under-torquing can lead to warped brake rotors or loose wheels. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles on newly installed wheels.

Common problems reported by 2019 Kia Stinger owners, with recommended fixes and estimated repair costs.
Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Deterioration
The left-hand turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly may deteriorate due to exposure to radiant heat from the exhaust manifold, leading to oil leaks that increase the risk of an engine compartment fire. Symptoms include oil leaking, a burning smell, white smoke, and the oil pressure warning light illuminating.
Kia issued a recall for 2018-2023 Stinger models to inspect and replace the left-hand turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly. The repair is performed free of charge regardless of warranty status.
Est. Cost: Covered under recallVariable Muffler Operation Logic Issues
The active exhaust valve system may not operate correctly, causing the exhaust note to be inconsistent or the valves to remain in the wrong position. Owners report unexpected changes in exhaust volume and droning at certain RPMs. The muffler flap actuator may also fail prematurely.
Kia released a TSB for a variable muffler operation logic improvement involving an Engine Control Module (ECM) software update. Dealers will apply the updated calibration. If the actuator has failed mechanically, it will need replacement.
Est. Cost: $0 for software update; $300 - $700 for muffler valve actuator replacementInfotainment Screen Non-Responsiveness
The AVN 5.0 infotainment system radio icons may become non-responsive to touch input. The screen may display correctly but fail to respond to taps, requiring a reboot. Some owners also report the system freezing during navigation or media playback.
Kia released a TSB for a software update to the AVN 5.0 system on 2020-2023 Kia vehicles. Dealers will update the infotainment firmware. A temporary workaround is to hold the power button for 10+ seconds to force a reboot.
Est. Cost: $0 for software update; $800 - $1,500 for head unit replacement if neededAWD System Issues with Mismatched Tires
The All-Wheel-Drive system can develop driveline vibrations, binding, and potential damage when tire circumferences differ beyond specification. This can occur from mismatched tire wear, using different tire brands on different axles, or not rotating tires on schedule. A TSB was issued warning of AWD damage from tire size variance.
Kia released a TSB regarding AWD system concerns due to tire sizes of differing circumference. Ensure all four tires are the same brand, model, and size, and rotate tires every 5,000-7,500 miles. Replace tires in sets of four when tread depth variance exceeds 2/32 inch.
Est. Cost: $800 - $1,200 for a set of four tires; $1,500 - $3,000 for AWD component repairMDPS Steering Calibration After Service
After replacement of the Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) or Electronic Power Steering (EPS) unit, the system may not be properly calibrated, causing uneven steering feel, off-center steering wheel, or inconsistent steering assist. This requires a specific variant coding procedure that some dealers may not perform correctly.
Kia released a TSB for variant coding after MDPS/EPS replacement on 2018-2023 Stinger vehicles. Dealers must perform the proper variant coding procedure using the KDS diagnostic tool after any MDPS/EPS service. Request that the TSB procedure is followed during any steering system repair.
Est. Cost: $0 under warranty; $150 - $300 for recalibration out of warranty3 NHTSA safety recalls for the 2019 Kia Stinger. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov
