2020 Chevrolet Corvette
Vehicle Specs & Maintenance Data
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette maintenance specs on this page cover the key fluids, torque values, and wear items you need for routine service. Use these numbers as a quick reference when performing oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, and other scheduled maintenance on your Chevrolet Corvette.
For oil changes, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette takes 5W-30 Full Synthetic motor oil with a capacity of 8 quarts. Brake fluid type is DOT 3, the recommended coolant is Dex-Cool (OAT), and transmission fluid is Dexron VI. Always use the manufacturer-recommended fluids to maintain warranty coverage and engine longevity.
When mounting wheels on the Chevrolet Corvette, torque the lug nuts to 140 ft-lbs using a calibrated torque wrench. Over- or under-torquing can lead to warped brake rotors or loose wheels. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles on newly installed wheels.

Rear Half-Shaft Assembly Missing Ball Bearings
The rear half-shaft assemblies may be missing one or more ball bearings from the factory. This manufacturing defect can cause vibration, clicking noises during acceleration or turning, and eventually lead to a complete loss of drive power if the half-shaft fails while driving.
NHTSA Recall N212351320. Dealers replace the left or right rear half-shaft assemblies as necessary, free of charge.
Est. Cost: $0 (recall repair)Dual-Clutch Transmission Cracked Housing
The 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) housing can develop cracks caused by porous metal castings. Owners report transmission fluid puddles under the car and eventual transmission failure. The cracked housing has been reported on Corvettes with very low mileage, sometimes under 5,000 miles. The DCT is a critical and expensive component of the C8.
Transmission housing replacement or complete transmission replacement under GM's powertrain warranty. Document any fluid leaks immediately and have the dealer inspect the transmission housing for cracks.
Est. Cost: $0 (warranty) - $8,000+ (out of warranty)Front Trunk (Frunk) Opening While Driving
NHTSA has received multiple complaints of the front trunk lid popping open while the vehicle is in motion, completely blocking the driver's forward visibility. This can be caused by the latch not fully engaging, accidental actuation of the key fob frunk button in the owner's pocket, or a defective latch mechanism.
GM recall N202311160 addressed frunk latch issues on earlier models. The BCM was updated to limit vehicle speed to 26 mph when the frunk is not latched, and the key fob frunk button was redesigned to reduce accidental actuation. Dealers also revised the interior release mechanism. Verify your vehicle has received all frunk-related updates.
Est. Cost: $0 (recall repair)12V Battery State of Charge Underestimation
The vehicle may display a low battery charge status warning despite the 12V battery being fully charged. This false warning can cause concern for owners and may lead to unnecessary battery replacements. The issue stems from the BCM software incorrectly estimating the battery state of charge.
GM service update to reprogram the BCM software to correctly calculate the 12V battery state of charge. Dealers perform the software flash free of charge under the service update program.
Est. Cost: $0 (service update)Infotainment and Electrical Glitches
Owners report various electrical issues including the infotainment screen freezing or going blank, the rearview camera intermittently failing, wireless Apple CarPlay disconnections, and the HVAC system displaying incorrect temperatures. Some owners also experience intermittent power window failures and erratic behavior from the electronic door release.
Infotainment and BCM software updates. Replacement of the infotainment module in severe cases. Check all electrical connectors behind the dashboard for proper seating. Battery and charging system test to ensure proper voltage.
Est. Cost: $0 (software update) - $1,500 (module replacement)4 NHTSA safety recalls for the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Corvette and Cadillac CT4, CT5 and XT4, 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer, and 2020-2021 Buick Encore GX vehicles. Sensor connection contamination in the electronic brake boost system may cause an interruption of communication between the sensor and the brake boost system.
If communication with the sensor is interrupted, the electronic brake boost assist could be lost. Extra pedal force will be required to slow and stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the electronic brake boost module, free of charge. The recall began December 9, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300. GM's number for this recall is A202307260.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles. Despite visual and audible warnings, the vehicle can be driven with the front trunk lid unlatched.
An unlatched hood can open when driving above a certain speed, obstructing the driver's forward view and increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software in the vehicle's Body Control Module to limit the vehicle speed to 26 mph when the hood is not completely closed and latched, free of charge. In addition, the operation of the hood release on the key fob will be modified to reduce the likelihood of inadvertent hood release actuations. Owners also may allow the vehicle to be remedied via an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update. The recall began September 24, 2020. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-866-522-9559. GM's number for this recall is N202311160.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 401, "Internal Trunk Release."
If a person climbs inside the front trunk compartment and closes the lid, they may be trapped inside, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software in the vehicle's Body Control Module (BCM) to allow the release switch to always work, free of charge. Owners also may allow the vehicle to be remedied via an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update. The recall began September 3, 2020. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-866-522-9559.
