2021 Lincoln Aviator

The engine intake valves on 2021-2022 Aviators with the 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine may break while driving, causing catastrophic engine failure and complete loss of drive power. This is the same valve material defect affecting the Explorer platform.

Ford issued recall 24S55. The dealer will perform an engine cycle test and replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. If you hear abnormal engine noise, knocking, or experience sudden power loss, stop driving immediately and have the vehicle towed.

2020-2023 Aviators equipped with the adaptive air suspension may develop air spring leaks, compressor failures, or ride height sensor malfunctions. Owners report 'Suspension Fault' and 'Drive Malfunction' messages on the dashboard, and the vehicle may sit unevenly or drop to the lowest height setting.

Ford issued a TSB for air suspension service on 2020-2023 Aviators. The dealer will diagnose using SUMA diagnostic trouble codes. Depending on the root cause, the air spring/strut, compressor, ride height sensor, or air lines may need replacement.

Certain 2020-2022 Aviator Grand Touring PHEV models have a high-voltage battery with a manufacturing defect that may result in an internal short circuit and battery failure. This can cause loss of drive power and, in extreme cases, a fire risk.

Ford issued a recall to perform a Battery Energy Control Module diagnostic test and replace the high-voltage battery pack as necessary. Contact your dealer immediately. The repair is free of charge.

The low-pressure fuel pump on 2021-2023 Aviators may fail, causing the engine to stall while driving. Symptoms include rough idling, hesitation during acceleration, and sudden engine shutoff. The failure can occur without warning at any speed.

2020-2023 Aviator AWD vehicles with the hybrid powertrain may experience harshness and vibration felt through the seat, steering wheel, and center console at speeds between 25-50 mph. The vibration is caused by the hybrid drive motor torque delivery.

Ford issued a TSB addressing the hybrid drivetrain vibration with a powertrain control module software recalibration. The dealer will update the PCM and hybrid control module calibration to smooth the electric motor torque delivery.

A loose seat belt or seat belt buckle may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The wire harness may not be secured properly, possibly contacting the air conditioning (A/C) compressor pulley, and resulting in damage to electrical wires, or the A/C compressor drive belt.

Damaged electrical wires may short-circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
