Common problems reported by 2023 Acura Integra owners, with recommended fixes and estimated repair costs.

1

Steering Gearbox Excessive Friction (Recall)

The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured with an improperly produced worm wheel, causing excessive internal friction. Drivers experience heavy, sticky, or notchy steering that worsens in hot and humid conditions. NHTSA received 185 steering-related complaints for the 2023 Integra.

Solution

Honda issued recall 24V-744 covering 2023-2025 Acura Integra models. Dealers will replace the worm gear spring and redistribute or add grease as necessary, free of charge.

Est. Cost: Covered under recall
2

VSA Modulator Brake Fluid Leak (Recall)

A ball valve in the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) modulator may leak brake fluid, causing unintended vehicle movement when the Brake Hold feature is engaged at a stop, or an unexpected increase in brake pedal travel. This reduces braking performance and control.

Solution

Honda issued a recall for certain 2023 Acura Integra models to replace the VSA modulator free of charge. Do not rely on the Brake Hold feature if you notice the vehicle creeping at stops. Contact your dealer immediately.

Est. Cost: Covered under recall
3

CVT Droning and Rubber-Banding (Non-Manual Models)

Integra models equipped with the CVT exhibit a droning noise at highway speeds and a rubber-banding sensation during moderate acceleration, where RPMs rise quickly before speed catches up. Some owners also report a judder or vibration at low speeds during CVT engagement.

Solution

Acura has released transmission control software updates to refine CVT behavior and reduce the rubber-banding feel. Have the dealer update the transmission control module to the latest calibration. CVT fluid replacement with Honda HCF-2 may also help.

Est. Cost: $0 for software update; $150 - $300 for fluid exchange
4

Rattling Speakers and Audio Distortion

The door-mounted speakers may rattle or produce distortion at moderate to high volume levels, particularly with bass-heavy audio content. The issue is caused by loose speaker mounting hardware or insufficient damping material around the speaker cutouts in the door panels.

Solution

The dealer can retorque speaker mounting screws and apply sound-deadening material around the speaker opening. In some cases, the speaker itself may need replacement. Aftermarket speaker gasket kits can also help eliminate rattling.

Est. Cost: $0 - $200 (often covered under warranty)
5

Fuel Cap Evaporative Emission Leak (Check Engine Light)

Some owners report a check engine light with DTC P0457 (Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected - Fuel Cap Loose/Off) even when the fuel cap is tightened properly. The issue is traced to a faulty fuel cap seal or evaporative emission system plumbing connection.

Solution

Replace the fuel cap with a genuine Honda part first, as this resolves most cases. If the code returns, the dealer will need to perform a smoke test of the EVAP system to identify the leak source, which may be a loose hose connection or faulty purge valve.

Est. Cost: $20 - $300
