The 2007 Dodge Magnum maintenance specs on this page cover the key fluids, torque values, and wear items you need for routine service. Use these numbers as a quick reference when performing oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, and other scheduled maintenance on your Dodge Magnum.

For oil changes, the 2007 Dodge Magnum takes 5W-20 Full Synthetic motor oil with a capacity of 7 quarts. Brake fluid type is DOT 3, the recommended coolant is Mopar OAT (Purple/Violet), and transmission fluid is ATF+4. Always use the manufacturer-recommended fluids to maintain warranty coverage and engine longevity.

When mounting wheels on the Dodge Magnum, torque the lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs using a calibrated torque wrench. Over- or under-torquing can lead to warped brake rotors or loose wheels. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles on newly installed wheels.

Owners of the 2007 Dodge Magnum have reported 5 common issues including "TIPM Failure and Electrical Malfunctions", "Front Lower Control Arm Bushing and Ball Joint Failure" and "Transmission Torque Converter and Solenoid Issues". Scroll down to the Diagnostics tab for detailed descriptions, solutions, and estimated repair costs.

There are 5 NHTSA safety recalls on file for the 2007 Dodge Magnum. At least one is flagged as "Park It," meaning you should not drive the vehicle until the recall repair is completed. Check the Recalls tab below for full details.

Common problems reported by 2007 Dodge Magnum owners, with recommended fixes and estimated repair costs.

1

TIPM Failure and Electrical Malfunctions

The 2007 Magnum's TIPM is prone to relay and circuit board failures that cause a wide range of electrical problems including no-start conditions, fuel pump relay sticking, headlights and taillights failing, power window inoperability, and random activation of the horn and wipers. Water intrusion through a deteriorated windshield seal can accelerate TIPM failure.

Solution

Replace the TIPM assembly. Check the windshield seal for leaks that may allow water to drip onto the TIPM housing. TSB 08-036-07 covers TIPM diagnostic and replacement procedures. Aftermarket remanufactured TIPMs with upgraded components are available at lower cost than dealer units.

Est. Cost: $400 - $1,100
2

Front Lower Control Arm Bushing and Ball Joint Failure

The front lower control arm bushings separate and deteriorate, causing a clunking noise over bumps and poor alignment stability. The lower ball joints also wear prematurely, leading to play in the front end and a wandering steering feel at highway speeds. Both issues develop progressively and worsen if not addressed promptly.

Solution

Replace the front lower control arms complete with bushings and ball joints as an assembly, since pressing in new bushings is often unsuccessful due to housing deformation. Perform a four-wheel alignment after replacement. Upgraded aftermarket control arms with improved bushing materials are available.

Est. Cost: $300 - $900
3

Transmission Torque Converter and Solenoid Issues

The 5-speed automatic (W5A580 or 545RFE depending on engine) develops torque converter shudder, delayed 1-2 upshifts, and harsh downshifts. The transmission solenoid pack degrades over time, causing erratic shift behavior and occasional limp-mode conditions. Overheating accelerates solenoid failure, especially during towing.

Solution

Replace the transmission solenoid pack and perform a complete fluid and filter change using ATF+4. If torque converter shudder is present, the torque converter should be replaced. TSB 21-008-07 addresses shift quality improvements through TCM software updates. Adding an auxiliary transmission cooler is recommended if the vehicle is used for towing.

Est. Cost: $400 - $2,500
4

Power Steering Pump Whine and Leak

The power steering pump develops a loud whining noise, especially during cold weather startup, and eventually begins leaking fluid from the pump shaft seal and reservoir. The whining noise intensifies when turning the steering wheel to full lock. Low fluid levels from leaks can cause pump cavitation and premature failure.

Solution

Replace the power steering pump and inspect the pressure and return lines for leaks at the crimp fittings. Use only Mopar ATF+4 or approved power steering fluid. TSB 19-008-07 addresses power steering pump noise on Chrysler LX-platform vehicles. Flush the entire system when replacing the pump to remove metal contamination.

Est. Cost: $250 - $600
5

Hemi (5.7L) Exhaust Manifold Bolt Failure

The 5.7L Hemi V8-equipped Magnum is notorious for broken exhaust manifold bolts, especially on the driver's side (left bank). The bolts break due to repeated heat cycling, causing a ticking exhaust leak that is loudest on cold starts and diminishes as the engine warms. The broken studs in aluminum heads make extraction challenging.

Solution

Extract broken bolts using a reverse-threaded easy-out or by drilling and tapping for a new bolt. Replace all exhaust manifold bolts with updated Mopar studs and new exhaust manifold gaskets. Apply high-temperature anti-seize to the new fasteners. TSB 21-011-07 provides the revised bolt kit part number.

Est. Cost: $400 - $1,500
