2014 Dodge Dart

The 2015 Dart equipped with the 2.0L engine and DDCT automatic transmission suffers from severe shudder during low-speed acceleration, hesitation from stops, and jerky engagement. The dry clutch packs wear prematurely, and the transmission control module software frequently fails to adapt to clutch wear. Multiple NHTSA complaints cite unsafe hesitation when pulling into traffic.

Update the TCM software per TSB 21-006-15 REV. C which adjusts clutch engagement parameters. If shudder persists, the dual-clutch module must be replaced. FCA issued a Customer Satisfaction Notification (P09) extending powertrain warranty on DDCT-equipped Darts. Many owners report switching to manual mode helps manage symptoms.

The 1.4L turbocharged engine consumes excessive oil, often 1 quart every 1,500-2,500 miles, due to the MultiAir actuator system allowing oil past the intake valve seals. Turbo boost leaks from the intercooler piping and charge air cooler connections cause loss of power, check engine lights (P0299 underboost), and poor fuel economy.

Inspect and tighten all intercooler piping clamps and connections. Replace the charge air cooler if internal leaking is detected. TSB 09-007-15 addresses MultiAir actuator bridge seal replacement to reduce oil consumption. Monitor oil levels between changes and use only 5W-40 synthetic oil as specified.

The 2015 Dart experiences random electrical failures including the instrument cluster going blank, power locks and windows failing, the key fob not being recognized, and the vehicle refusing to start despite a fully charged battery. The Body Control Module (BCM) loses communication with other modules due to software glitches and connector corrosion.

Perform a BCM software update and full module communication scan. TSB 08-067-15 addresses BCM communication faults. Clean all ground connection points, particularly the main ground strap at the transmission bellhousing. Replace the BCM if software updates do not resolve intermittent module communication failures.

The rear suspension on the 2015 Dart develops clunking and knocking noises over bumps due to premature rear stabilizer bar link and bushing wear. The rear shock absorbers also leak prematurely, causing a bouncy ride quality. Many owners report these issues beginning as early as 30,000 miles.

Replace the rear stabilizer bar end links and bushings. Inspect and replace the rear shock absorbers if leaking oil or providing poor damping. TSB 02-012-15 covers rear suspension noise diagnosis. Using OEM-quality replacement parts is recommended as budget parts tend to fail again within a year.

The cooling fan module fails or runs continuously, and the thermostat sticks open or closed. When the thermostat sticks closed, the engine overheats rapidly, particularly in traffic. When it sticks open, the engine runs cold, producing poor heat output and reduced fuel economy. The 1.4T engine is especially susceptible to overheating from cooling fan failure.

Replace the thermostat with the updated design per TSB 07-009-15. Replace the cooling fan assembly if the motor has failed or runs at a single speed only. Check the coolant level and condition, as contaminated coolant accelerates thermostat failure.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles. The shifter cable may detach from the transmission, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the park (P) position and causing a loss of park function.

A loss of park function may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

Vehicles that were previously repaired under recall 19V293 will need to have the new remedy completed. The remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters, explaining the safety risk, were mailed November 6, 2025. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with 6-speed automatic transmissions. The shifter cable bushing may fail allowing the shift cable to detach from the transmission.

If the shifter cable detaches from the transmission, the vehicle may not perform the shifts performed by the driver. Additionally, despite selecting PARK with the shifter, the vehicle may roll away. These scenarios may increase the risk of a crash.

This recall will be replaced by NHTSA recall number 25V674. Vehicles already repaired under this recall will need to have the new remedy completed. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transmission side shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 5, 2019. Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Dodge Dart vehicles manufactured February 27, 2012 to January 23, 2014 and equipped with either a 2.0L or 2.4L engine. In affected vehicles, engine oil from the vacuum pump may seep into the brake booster, damaging a component within the brake booster.

Internal damage to brake booster could result in a loss of brake assist, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake booster grommet for the presence of oil. If no oil is found, the vacuum tube assembly will be replaced. If oil is found, the vacuum pump, vacuum tube assembly, brake booster and master cylinder will be replaced. The recall began on May 9, 2016. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Dodge Dart vehicles manufactured February 24, 2012, to June 16, 2015. The affected vehicles may experience failure of the transmission control module (TCM), causing the transmission to unexpectedly shift into neutral.

If the transmission shifts into neutral, it can cause loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the TCM and bracket, free of charge. Chrysler issued an interim notification to owners on October 14, 2015. The recall began on January 15, 2016.
