2014 Land Rover Range Rover
Vehicle Specs & Maintenance Data
The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover maintenance specs on this page cover the key fluids, torque values, and wear items you need for routine service. Use these numbers as a quick reference when performing oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, and other scheduled maintenance on your Land Rover Range Rover.
For oil changes, the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover takes 5W-20 Full Synthetic motor oil with a capacity of 8.6 quarts. Brake fluid type is DOT 4, the recommended coolant is OAT Coolant (Orange), and transmission fluid is ZF Lifeguard 8 (ATF). Always use the manufacturer-recommended fluids to maintain warranty coverage and engine longevity.
When mounting wheels on the Land Rover Range Rover, torque the lug nuts to 98 ft-lbs using a calibrated torque wrench. Over- or under-torquing can lead to warped brake rotors or loose wheels. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles on newly installed wheels.
Owners of the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover have reported 5 common issues including "Air Suspension Compressor and Strut Failure", "InControl Touch Pro Duo Infotainment System Failure" and "Supercharged V8 Coolant Crossover Pipe Leak". Common problems reported by 2014 Land Rover Range Rover owners, with recommended fixes and estimated repair costs.
Air Suspension Compressor and Strut Failure
The four-corner air suspension system is the Range Rover's most notorious failure point. Air strut bladders crack and leak, causing the vehicle to sag, and the compressor burns out from running continuously to compensate. Warnings such as 'Suspension Fault' and 'Normal Height Only' appear. The vehicle may become undrivable if it drops to the bump stops.
Replace leaking air struts (all four often need replacement within a short window). Replace the compressor and air dryer assembly. A full system leak-down test should be performed to identify all failure points before beginning repairs. Some owners convert to Arnott or other aftermarket air struts at lower cost.
Est. Cost: $2,500 - $4,000 per strut / $1,500 - $3,000 (compressor) / Total system: $8,000 - $15,000InControl Touch Pro Duo Infotainment System Failure
The dual-screen Touch Pro Duo system experiences black screens, frozen displays, and slow response on both the upper and lower screens. Climate controls, seat heating, and terrain response settings become inaccessible when the lower screen fails. The system drains significant processing power and generates heat, leading to thermal throttling and lag.
Jaguar Land Rover has issued multiple software updates for the Touch Pro Duo system. Dealers can perform a full system reflash or replace the infotainment modules if hardware failure is confirmed. JLR TSB LTB00726 addresses systematic screen failures on the L405 platform.
Est. Cost: $0 (warranty/software) / $2,000 - $5,000 (dual-screen module replacement)Supercharged V8 Coolant Crossover Pipe Leak
The 5.0L supercharged V8 develops coolant leaks from the coolant crossover pipes at the front of the engine, where the O-rings degrade from heat cycling. The leak starts as a slow seep but can progress to a significant loss of coolant. Overheating can cause catastrophic engine damage if the coolant level is not monitored.
Replace the coolant crossover pipe O-rings and inspect the pipes for corrosion. The supercharger intercooler coolant circuit should also be checked for leaks. JLR TSB LTB00589 covers the repair procedure. A complete cooling system pressure test should be performed after the repair.
Est. Cost: $600 - $2,000Transfer Case Fluid Leak and Clunk
The two-speed transfer case develops a fluid leak from the output shaft seal, and owners report a clunk when shifting between drive and reverse or when transitioning from coasting to acceleration. The transfer case fluid leak is visible as a dark oil spot under the center of the vehicle. Low fluid levels can cause internal damage.
Replace the transfer case output shaft seal and refill with the correct specification fluid. If the internal clutch packs or chain are worn (causing the clunk), a transfer case rebuild or replacement is required. JLR TSB LTB00612 addresses transfer case seal leaks on the L405.
Est. Cost: $400 - $800 (seal) / $3,000 - $6,000 (rebuild or replacement)Tailgate Latch and Power Closing Assist Failure
The powered tailgate fails to latch, open, or close properly. The power closing assist motor wears out, and the latch mechanism can become misaligned. Owners report the tailgate bouncing back open after attempting to close, and the 'Tailgate Open' warning remaining on the dash even when closed. Water intrusion corrodes the wiring in the tailgate.
Replace the tailgate latch mechanism and the power closing assist motor. Inspect and repair the tailgate wiring harness for corrosion. The tailgate hinges and gas struts should be checked for proper alignment. Recalibration with the dealer diagnostic tool is required after replacement.
Est. Cost: $600 - $1,50010 NHTSA safety recalls for the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov

TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2014 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport and 2013-2014 LR4 vehicles manufactured September 16, 2013, to June 30, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may fail to learn the locations of the individual sensors while the vehicle is being driven. As a result, the low tire pressure warning light will illuminate, despite the the tire pressures being within specification. Should one of the tires subsequently lose air pressure, the driver would not be notified of the change in air pressure.
If the TPMS light illuminates because the sensors cannot be located, it could mask an actual low tire pressure condition, possibly resulting in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the Body Control Module (BCM) software, free of charge. The recall began on November 6, 2014. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837, Option 9. Land Rover's number for this recall is P050.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2014 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles manufactured from May 7, 2013, to October 10, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the turn signal indicator may not flash at a double rate or click at a double-rate to give a notification to the driver of a front turn signal malfunction. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Without a warning that a front turn signal is malfunctioning, the driver would continue to use the vehicle, unaware that other drivers on the road are not being notified that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on, or before, May 27, 2014. Land Rover's number for this recall is P042.
AIR BAGS
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Range Rover vehicles. In the affected vehicles, due to insufficient clearance, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) connector located in the driver and front passenger side seat of the vehicle may become disconnected.
If the connector becomes disconnected, the driver and/or passenger seat side air bag may not function. In the event of a crash necessitating side air bag deployment, the seat occupant is at an increased risk of injury.
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will modify the area around the connector to prevent it from becoming disconnected, free of charge. The recall began on January 16, 2014. Customers may contact Land Rover at 1-800-637-6837, Option 9. Land Rover's number for this recall is P037.
