For oil changes, the 2020 Toyota Camry takes 0W-20 Full Synthetic motor oil with a capacity of 6.2 quarts. Brake fluid type is DOT 3 or DOT 4, the recommended coolant is Pink Long Life Coolant (OAT), and transmission fluid is ATF WS. Always use the manufacturer-recommended fluids to maintain warranty coverage and engine longevity.
When mounting wheels on the Toyota Camry, torque the lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs using a calibrated torque wrench. Over- or under-torquing can lead to warped brake rotors or loose wheels. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles on newly installed wheels.

Water Pump Leak (A25A Engine)
The 2.5L A25A engine's electric water pump can leak coolant from the pump body or its electrical connector. Symptoms include a low-coolant warning light, visible coolant residue around the water pump area, and in severe cases, engine overheating if left unaddressed.
Replace the electric water pump. Toyota addressed this in TSB T-SB-0087-21 for A25A engines. The related DTCs are P26CA14 and P26CA31. Covered under the powertrain warranty.
Est. Cost: $0 under warranty; $400 - $800 if out of warrantyIncorrect Fuel Gauge Reading After Refueling
Some 2022 Camry AWD models with the A25A engine may display an inaccurate fuel gauge reading on the instrument cluster after filling the tank completely. The gauge may show less than full or fluctuate for several miles after a fill-up.
Toyota issued a TSB to reprogram the fuel level sender calibration in the combination meter ECU. The dealer performs a software update to correct the fuel gauge calibration. No parts replacement is needed.
Est. Cost: $0 under warranty; $100 - $150 for software updateFront Brake Squeal
Owners report a high-pitched squeal or squeak from the front brakes during light braking, particularly when the brakes are cold or in humid conditions. The noise can be persistent and is not related to worn brake pads.
Toyota issued a TSB recommending application of brake shim grease and installation of updated anti-squeal shims on the front brake pads. In some cases, the front brake pad set is replaced with an updated part number that includes improved noise-dampening shims.
Est. Cost: $0 under warranty; $150 - $300 if out of warrantyOil Leak from Valve Cover Gasket
2020-2022 Camry models with North American Produced A25A-FKS/FXS engines may develop an oil leak from the head/valve cover gasket area. Owners may detect a burning oil smell or see oil residue on the engine.
Toyota issued TSB T-SB-0176-21 to replace the valve cover gasket and torque the cover bolts to updated specifications. This repair is covered under the powertrain warranty.
Est. Cost: $0 under warranty; $300 - $600 if out of warrantyMilky/Discolored Engine Oil
Some 2022 Camry vehicles with A25A-FKS or M20A-FKS engines may exhibit milky or discolored engine oil, especially in colder climates or with frequent short trips. This is caused by moisture condensation in the crankcase that does not fully evaporate during short driving cycles.
Toyota issued a TSB explaining that this is typically a normal condition caused by short-trip driving and does not indicate a head gasket failure. Extended highway driving (20+ minutes) will heat the oil sufficiently to evaporate the moisture. If the condition persists after extended driving, further diagnosis is warranted.
Est. Cost: $0 (condition resolves with longer driving cycles)3 NHTSA safety recalls for the 2020 Toyota Camry. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov
AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Corolla, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, Lexus ES350, Lexus RX350, Lexus RX450H, 2021 Sienna Hybrid, Lexus ES250, 2020-2022 Camry, Camry Hybrid, and ES300H vehicles. A short circuit may develop in the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor, preventing the front passenger air bag from deploying.
An air bag that does not deploy during a crash increases the risk of injury.
Dealers will inspect and replace the sensor as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed in February 2024. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid and Lexus ES300h and 2019-2020 RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles equipped with 2.5L 4-Cylinder engines. Porosity in the engine castings may result in cracks than can allow coolant to leak internally and/or externally.
A coolant leak can cause the engine to overheat and cause a vehicle stall in conventional gasoline vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, for all involved vehicles, the engine may get damaged mechanically, possibly resulting in an engine oil leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the engine including the engine block, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 3, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's number for this recall is 20TA04. Lexus' number for this recall is 20LA02.
