2021 Ford Bronco Sport

The Body Control Module and Powertrain Control Module software may fail to detect a weakening 12V battery. This can cause the vehicle to stall at low speeds or fail to restart after the auto start-stop system engages, leaving the driver stranded in traffic.

Ford issued recall 24S24 for 2021-2024 Bronco Sport vehicles. The dealer will update the BCM and PCM software free of charge. Until the recall is completed, consider disabling the auto start-stop system by pressing the button each time you start the vehicle.

A widespread issue where the brakes produce a loud moaning, squealing, or groaning noise when the vehicle is driven in reverse in cold weather or high humidity. The noise can be alarming and is the top complaint for the Bronco Sport across owner forums.

Ford issued a TSB for 2020-2022 Escape and 2022 Bronco Sport vehicles acknowledging the brake moan. The fix involves replacing the rear brake pads with an updated formulation and machining or replacing the rear rotors. Some dealers also apply anti-squeal compound.

The 1.5L EcoBoost engine fuel injectors can develop cracks, causing fuel to leak near hot engine components. This creates a serious fire risk, especially after extended driving. Ford recalled affected Bronco Sport and Escape models.

Ford issued recall 22S73 to inspect and replace the fuel injectors. Contact your dealer to check your VIN immediately. Do not drive the vehicle if you smell gasoline. The repair is free of charge.

Some 2021-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles were built with missing or loose rear suspension bolts. If the bolts fail completely, the rear suspension system can partially detach, causing loss of vehicle control.

Ford issued a recall to inspect and tighten or replace the rear suspension bolts. Contact your dealer to verify your VIN. If you notice unusual clunking from the rear or unstable handling, stop driving and have the vehicle towed to the dealer.

The SYNC 3 infotainment screen goes black intermittently while driving, and the odometer/speedometer display randomly switches between miles and kilometers. Some owners required complete replacement of the APIM, driver info screen, and gateway module.

Start with a SYNC master reset and check for software updates. Ford has released firmware patches for the APIM module. If the screen continues to go black or the unit switching persists, the APIM and potentially the instrument cluster module need replacement under warranty.

The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed December 3, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated February 2026. Dealers will update the engine control software. and replace the high pressure fuel rail assembly and the fuel injector ,free of charge. As an interim repair, dealers will update the engine control software, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed August 29, 2025. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles. The rear brake linings may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can affect braking performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

During certain situations, the driver may have to apply more brake pedal force, and the distance required to stop the vehicle may be extended, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles. The moonroof glass may not have been bonded correctly to the moonroof frame, which could result in the glass panel detaching from the vehicle.

A detached glass panel can become a road hazard, and increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Loose or missing bolts may affect the vehicle's handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash. It could also reduce the vehicle's performance in a rear impact crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Edge, 2020 Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Escape and 2021 Lincoln Corsair and Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. An inadequate amount of lubricant in the rear drive unit may cause seizure of the rear drive axle.

If the rear drive unit seizes, there may be a loss of drive and/or a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the rear drive unit lubricant level. Axles found to have lubricant at the minimum level will be filled to the full level.
