2022 Ford F-150

The 10-speed automatic (10R80) exhibits harsh engagement, delayed shifts, and gear hunting. Owners report the truck lurching or slamming between gears, especially 3rd through 5th. This is the most common complaint category for the 2022 F-150 and affects both the 2.7L, 3.5L EcoBoost, and 5.0L drivetrains.

Ford released TSB 23-2250 addressing software calibration, solenoid strategy, sticking main control valve body valves, and CDF clutch cylinder sleeve movement. A PCM reflash is the first step; severe cases require valve body or solenoid pack replacement.

Some 2021-2023 F-150s lose electric power steering assist upon startup, displaying a 'Steering Assist Fault' message. The steering wheel becomes extremely heavy and difficult to turn, a serious safety concern when pulling into traffic or merging.

Ford issued TSB 22-2388 with robustness improvements to the steering column control module signal management to reduce battery drain that triggers the fault. The dealer will reprogram the steering column module and, if necessary, replace it.

2022-2024 F-150s with the 5.0L V8 can develop an oil leak at the oil filter adapter-to-engine block mounting area. Owners notice oil dripping under the truck and a burning oil smell. If left unaddressed, the leak can worsen and lead to low oil levels.

Ford issued TSB 24-2100 to address the leak. The repair involves resealing or replacing the oil filter adapter gasket. Inspect the area during every oil change and top off oil as needed until the repair is completed.

Some 2022 F-150s with the 3.5L EcoBoost exhibit engine misfires under load and a ticking or rattling noise on cold startup. The tick is caused by cam phaser or timing chain tensioner wear and is most noticeable in the first 30 seconds after a cold soak.

Ford issued TSB 23-2353 addressing EcoBoost timing chain and cam phaser noise. A PCM update may resolve minor misfire concerns. Persistent ticking may require cam phaser and/or timing chain tensioner replacement under the powertrain warranty.

Some 2015-2022 F-150s suffer poor air conditioning output, loss of airflow from the vents, and engine cooling fans running continuously even with the A/C off. The cabin takes an excessively long time to cool in warm weather.

Ford issued a TSB addressing HVAC blend door actuator failures and low refrigerant. The dealer should check refrigerant charge, inspect the blend door actuator, and verify the condenser for damage or blockage. Blend door actuator replacement is common.

A software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.

The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. Damaged axle hub splines can result in a vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake applied or cause a loss of drive power. Both of these conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
